Alain Daniel Alvarez Vega

Academic Profile

I specialize in exploring poetic and critical interactions within 20th-century literature. My research examines the dynamic encounters between poets and critics, particularly through literary criticism.

With an academic foundation bridging Classics, Comparative Literature, and Political Science, my work often links temporal and disciplinary divides. My master’s thesis, a comparative study of silence in Virgil’s Aeneid and Dante’s Divine Comedy, reflects my interest in intertextual dialogue across literary traditions. My broader research also engages with postcolonial theories, epistemic disobedience, and the rethinking of global literary networks, particularly through South-South interactions.

I have published on topics ranging from the intersections of marginal literary traditions in the works of George Seferis and Octavio Paz to the role of silence and identity in epic narratives. Fluent in multiple languages, including Spanish, English, French, German, Italian, Modern Greek, and Latin, I draw upon a multilingual perspective to investigate texts and their transnational resonances.

In addition to research, I am committed to teaching and fostering dialogue in the academic community, as evidenced by my roles as an assistant professor, seminar leader, and student representative. My work reflects a deep engagement with the interconnectedness of global literary practices and the critical role of dialogue in shaping cultural understanding.
